I wrote back to Dianna and copying Sonja Land saying that the request is for Mesquite's electronic citation data that Redflex is storing on Mesquite's behalf in Redflex systems. I asked them to make the request directly to Redflex.

Received the attached repsonse from Sonja Land emailed by Dianna Childs (dmchilds@cityofmesquite.com). It says I can get paper copies of 994 red light camera tickets for $141.35.

Dianna emailed again saying that they can also provide location, vehicle speed, and posted speed.

Never heard back, sent another email and clarified why I asked the paper-based question. If they have electronic systems, they should be able to directly export the data for me.

Response from Lidia P. Barraza, Court Administrator. Major points:

  • Records request covered under rules other than Texas Public Information Act.
  • Only has 5 years of data.
  • "The Municipal Court does not have data gathered in an existing program and therefore the requestor will need to pay the cost associated with developing and implementing a program to gather the data."

I replied asking if they are still paper-based.
